The cultural narrative of a city is a dual process: a natural evolution guided by aesthetic traditions, and a continuous transformation that reinterprets these traditions for the contemporary world.

Foshan, a cradle of Lingnan Cantonese culture, provided the perfect backdrop. This staff restaurant, a vital daily space, required an upgrade. The challenge was to enhance functionality while infusing it with local cultural character, creating a more comfortable and textured dining experience.

If cultural preservation is the art of retaining time, then cultural renewal is a dialogue between the past and the present. This restaurant embodies a poetic reinterpretation of Lingnan culture, refined and reimagined to create a visual feast that elevates the entire dining experience.

01. Lingnan Impressions, Reinterpreted

The Feature Wall

Upon entering, the floor paved with 'Story ' tiles immediately draws the eye. Their glossy, candy-like finish reflects the light, building a warm and breathable atmosphere. The left wall, clad in 'Turin Rhythm', introduces a raw, natural feel with its travertine texture and smooth, varied veins.

The centerpiece is the 'Splendor of Fóyì' relief mural, crafted from KGE foamed ceramics. Leveraging the material's lightness and flexibility, KGE employed precise CNC carving technology to fuse traditional artistic charm with modern technical accuracy.

Elements of Lingnan culturethe elegance of architecture, the dynamism of the lion dance, the discipline of martial arts, and the grace of Cantonese opera figuresare vividly reproduced. The mural's fluid lines and strong three-dimensionality make the wall a stunning visual focus, where tradition is reborn.

The Landscape Wall

Further in, a transparent glass enclosure reveals a serene landscape. The wall, built from KGE's foamed ceramic wall panels, exudes a composed Lingnan charm with its rustic grey hue and fine texture.

This miniature landscape, brimming with life, brings a piece of natural tranquility indoors. The simple and unadorned quality of the bricks contrasts with the vibrant scene, creating a serene and sophisticated ambiance.

The Golden Lions

Two golden lions, also formed from foamed ceramics, are particularly charming. The material's superb plasticity captures every detail, preserving a ceramic feel while perfectly expressing the spirit of Foshan's lion dance. These unique greeters add a lively and playful touch to the space.

02. Refined Ambiance, Naturally

The Serving Area

The best design feels both innate and effortless. The 'Story ' tiles extend from the entrance to the serving area. Main tiles are accented with deco pieces, avoiding monotony without being overpowering, and perfectly underpinning the restaurant's tranquil mood.

The buffet countertops, made from KLAX's 'Meteorite Black', bring an authentic, natural touch. Their stain-resistant, wear-resistant, and easy-to-clean properties ensure practicality. As seasonal local ingredients are transformed into exquisite dishes displayed here, the space comes alive with a magic that engages all five senses.

The Dining Area

Light plays a dynamic role in the dining area, shifting in intensity, subtly influencing the emotion and atmosphere.

Here, 'Story ' and 'Keywood' tiles create a relaxed and comfortable vibe, aligning perfectly with the modern pursuit of a pleasant dining experience. Underfoot, the tiles act as an invisible filter, balancing the warmth of furniture, the vitality of plants, and the cheerful chatter of staff.

Every meal here is infused with ease. The sintered stone tabletops, featuring KLAX's 'European Oak', showcase distinct wood-grain layers. The elegant, original wood tone brings a refreshing warmth and rich resonance, proving that true beauty lies in the details.

In this project, KITO has masterfully woven the elegance of Lingnan culture and the comfort of modern dining into the very fabric of the space. Moving forward, guided by our "One Core, Two Wings" strategy, we will continue to ensure that our tiles, new materials, and sintered stone are more than just finishesthey are vehicles for culture and comfort, crafting ideal spaces that are both functional and deeply human.
